You want new customers. We'll show you how to get them with a sales funnel that converts more people, more often.

In order for your business to be successful and stay open, you must consistently bring in new customers. This is the basis of what is known as the "sales funnel." This concept is simple to understand, yet a bit more difficult to put into place properly. Don't worry. The Old State is here to help!

What is the Sales Funnel? Before we go any further, let's first break down exactly what the sales funnel is. It outlines the path taken by prospects from awareness of your company or products to a full-fledged purchase. It’s also sometimes called the revenue funnel or conversion funnel. It is broken down like this:

Attention: This is when someone becomes aware of what you offer. At this point, the potential customer is a stranger, also known as a prospect, and they’re looking for answers to their questions and solutions to their problems. In this stage of the funnel, your website design is going to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Interest: You've gotten their attention. Now is the time to pique their interest. They are still in the research phase, so you can't expect them to be ready to hand over their credit card information quite yet. Take this chance to educate them about your products, services, or company as a whole. Now is the time to build curiosity and trust. A well-crafted email marketing campaign and other digital marketing efforts can work wonders during this phase!

Desire: They're almost ready to make a decision as they seriously consider your product or service. They aren't quite ready yet, though, and need one final push in the right direction. Some factors that can sway them are pricing and proving you offer the best value for their money. You should persuade them to choose you through content marketing, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, reviews and/or customer testimonials. This is also a fantastic stage in the funnel to offer a limited-time discount or a free consultation.

Action: You've convinced them! They're ready to make a purchase, and your website's landing pages, calls-to-action (CTA), forms, and other contact information must be up to the task of finalizing the sale. If you have an eCommerce site, it is essential to make it easy for these soon-to-be customers to add products to their cart and pay for items at checkout. Keep all transactions smooth, seamless, and distraction-free.
